We offer approximately 45 km of expertly groomed trails for both classic skiing and skate skiing.
The ski season usually starts in late November.

Rentals available during Kiosk hours - *If renting equipment, please show up 1/2 hour before closing.
- Blackjack is a great ski resort for families & has good runs for beginners. Management & staff keep this resort in good shape & running order. Groomers are out in the morning before they open for fresh groomed runs for skiers & boarders. A lift ticket works for Indianhead too & a shuttle will take you over to the other ski hill if you want.
- Upper Spirit Mountain Nordic Trail System The upper trail system at Spirit Mountain features 22 kilometers of beautifully wooded cross-country ski trails, double tracked with a skate lane. Located at 9535 West Skyline Parkway, just past the main entrance to Spirit Mountain.
Trail fees always apply. Outside of kiosk hours please use the self-pay envelopes in the big red mailbox by the kiosk or the dropbox at the Biathlon trailhead.
Please refer to the GPS grooming map, the the Red Mountain website weather report or Environment Canada weather to estimate trailhead conditions, or the B.C. Highway webcam at Strawberry Pass for Biathlon conditions.
Please note: - snowshoes are not allowed on any trails.
Dogs are only allowed on Richie's Loop, but their minders need to be on skis.
Note to Day-Use Visitors:. No day-use fee discounts are in effect this year for Black Jack or Nelson Nordic ski club members.; To be eligible for the ‘Family' rate a single adult or couple must be accompanied by their child/children (less than 19 years of age living at home or enrolled in full time academic studies). The skiing is done in laps with bouts of shooting between each lap. Actual lap times are in the 6 to 10 minute range and with 4 types of races there are races for everyone. Training is also fun with participation and training in complementary sports such as cycling, kayaking, swimming, weight training, and trail running.

Black Jack offers full rentals at the trailhead kiosk, including skis, boots, and poles for both skate skiing and classic skiing.
The kiosk is usually staffed everyday from about 9am to 2pm weekdays and 8:00am to 3:00pm weekends. It is helpful if renters are at the kiosk half an hour before closing.
The rental is for a 24-hour period so you can get a couple good skis in! To make sure our staff is around to help call ahead at 250-362-7164.

The 2020/21 Membership opens on Sptember 15, 2020 for registration with Zone 4 ( online registration) and the early bird pricing ends October 31. The kiosk, once it opens, will be available to pay by cash or cheque.
The total fees are based on the Black Jack Ski Club membership, GST, Zone 4 and CCBC $19.00/ per person fees.

All trails have track set. The snow conditions greatly improve over higher terrain, top of Glenmerry Road, Ivar, Snowberry and Old Growth had very nice snow with great track.
Winterberry remains closed due to warm temperatures in the swamp section.
Thank you for your patience while we work with the snow we have and train our new staff. Although we have great coverage right now, there are some signs of early season conditions.
The grooming team will generally be taking their days off on Mondays and Tuesdays because they are lowest priority. If there is a significant snowfall we may still be up grooming on those days.
Please take caution around the grooming equipment. It is your responsibility as a skier to move clear of the trail. Make sure your skis are completely off the trail, we are towing equipment that reaches or extends past the edge. When we move out of a skiers way it often requires re doing the grooming circuit or in snowy conditions, we get stuck, this means that we won't be able to get to other trails and limits the overall grooming.
Note to Day-Use Visitors:
